Similar to when you are looking for a snack, and sometimes you want something sweet and sometimes something salty, cocktails are no different. When it comes to salty, no other cocktail hits the spot quite so well as a dirty (the addition of olive brine) vodka martini. This classic cocktail, while simple, still needs attention to detail to make it the perfect drink. Proportions are very important to make sure you strike a balance between the vodka and olive brine (3 parts vodka to 1 part olive brine) and adding that hint of dry vermouth just seems to round out the flavor profile. Top it off with homemade stuffed blue cheese olives, a must for a dirty martini, and you have the perfect drink to fulfill that salty craving. Ingredients:
- Tito’s Vodka (or Vodka of your choice)
- Dolin’s Dry Vermouth
- Olive Brine
- Queen Olives
- Blue (or bleu) Cheese Crumbles
- Cream Cheese
- Half and Half
Tools:
- Oxo two-sided shot glass/jigger
- Martini Glass (Place in freezer to frost)
- Cocktail Shaker
- Misto Oil Sprayer (optional)
- Mixing Bowl
- Mixing spoon
- Piping bag and tip (or zip-lock freezer quart baggy)
- Kitchen scale
Directions:
- Make your Blue Cheese filing by combining the following three items and mixing until creamy.
- 3 oz (by weight) of blue cheese crumbles
- 2 oz (by weight) of cream cheese
- 1 Tablespoon of half and half
- Remove pimeintos from queen olives and fill with Blue cheese cream mixture using a piping bag and tip (can use zip-lock baggy in a pinch – just fill baggy with mixture and cut one of the bottom corners very slightly and pipe into olives).
- Rinse (or spray) Martini Glass with Dolin’s dry vermouth and place in freezer a few hours before cocktail making.
- Place three blue cheese stuffed olives on cocktail pick
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice and then add ingredients for one cocktail.
- Tito’s – 4.5 oz (large side of jigger – 3 shots)
- Olive Brine 1.5 oz (large side of jigger – 1 shot)
- Shake very vigorously and then strain drink using cocktail shaker (liquid only – no ice cubes – classic martini style) into frozen martini glass
- Garnish with olives
